several systems development staffs (of up to 120 professionals) and managed the
development of systems ranging from simple financial applications to complex
applications which tied various members of the supply chain together via
“electronic linkages” (these systems were forerunners of today’s eCommerce and eCollaboration)

and was principal developer of one of the most successful computer-based retail
store management systems, ECONOMOST (singled out by management guru Tom Peters
as one of the three best uses of computer systems to create a sustainable
competitive advantage--see Thriving on Chaos). Has been an invited lecturer at the

Consulted
with a major healthcare provider on the select of their new claims processing
system. Project covered everything from
needs assessment, long-term directions and plans for the business, package
identification and evaluation to final recommendations.

Helped
a $5 billion distributor select the best distribution requirement planning
(DRP) system to support their business and its future needs

Implemented
a “state-of-the-art” purchasing and inventory management system for a $10
billion distributor which managed approximately 30,000 items in each of the firms
45 warehouses using a central staff of only 12 buyers (because the system made
98.5% of the buyers without manual review)

Acted
as an Interim General Manager for a firm that provided prescription claims
processing services to both pharmacies and insurance companies. While serving in this capacity, helped the
firm make major progress in streamling its systems.

Developed
one of the first collaborative VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) systems with a
major retailer – where inventory on the retailer’s shelf was automatically
monitored and replenished as needed. In
addition, extensive reports provided much greater visibility over inventory
problems and the needed solutions. This
system enabled substantial improvements achieved in communications, in-stock
positions, fill-rates and the retailer’s service to their customers.

a $7 billion multi-divisional manufacturer, managed the development and
implementation of integrated inventory/manufacturing management systems using
Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) logic.
Modules developed and installed included: Bill-of-Materials, Inventory
Accounting and Costing, MRP, Master Scheduling, and Purchasing.
